BALTIMORE (AP) — Orioles head groundskeeper Nicole Sherry will retire after 20 years at Camden Yards, the team announced Monday.

She joined the organization in 2006, becoming the second woman to hold a head groundskeeper position in Major League Baseball history.

Throughout her tenure, Sherry maintained the iconic field conditions at Baltimore's ballpark, earning respect from players and fans alike.

On her final day, she will oversee field preparation before throwing the ceremonial first pitch for the upcoming series against New York.

Following her career, Sherry joins the Maryland Department of Agriculture as an assistant secretary for Plant Industries and Pest Management.
