BEIRUT (AP) — Israeli drones attacked three vehicles in the southern Beirut highway on Wednesday, killing eight people, including a woman and her two sons, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

Israeli forces indicated they targeted Hezbollah infrastructure across several southern Lebanese areas hours after urging residents of six southern villages to evacuate.

Lebanon and Israel are scheduled to hold another round of direct talks in Washington Thursday, as the Trump administration pushes for progress between the two nations embroiled in conflict since Israel's establishment in 1948.

The Health Ministry confirmed three attacks occurred but did not specify the number of occupants per vehicle.

Two Wednesday drone attacks hit a highway connecting Beirut to the southern port city of Sidon, while a third struck the state-run Saadiyat locality near the busy highway. A fourth northern Sidon attack occurred around early afternoon, damaging a private vehicle, according to state media reports.

A photo by The Associated Press captured three deceased individuals near Barja and Jiyeh coastal townships.
